Special Needs Buddy Ministry

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of Good Shepherd’s Special Needs Ministry is to come alongside families who have children with special needs, age Pre-School through 5th Grade, so that children are able to participate in Children’s Ministry programming and parents have the freedom to attend LifeGroups, worship, and serve.

In support of our broader church mission- inviting all people into a living relationship with Jesus Christ, the goals of the special needs ministry are to lead families affected by unique needs into that same living and loving relationship.

How to Sign-Up for a Buddy:

(The services of the special needs ministry may be requested by the individual themselves, the family of the individual, or the ministry leader(s) serving the
individual. )

  1. Complete a GS Ministry Family Profile online.
  2. Good Shepherd’s Special Needs Coordinator will set up a Family interview time.
  3. Good Shepherd’s Special Needs Coordinator will then assign a Volunteer Buddy for that child if one is warranted.  (We only have a certain number of Volunteer Buddies available, so in the event a Buddy is not available, we will form a waiting list.)

NOTE: In the event your child puts himself/herself or another person in danger, we reserve the right to remove the child from the program until further notice.
